Poorly Coded web-sites more vulnerable to get Hacked.
Web-sites are vulnerable due to poor coding by the web designers. These are very old mistakes that the designers tend to neglect allowing nasty hackers hijack web-site visitors to their sites.
According to researchers, many websites have loopholes left out in the code created for the web-site. Because of some poor practices, hi-tech web criminals have a ready target available.
According to the report from Symantec, the number of sites susceptible for such attacks almost doubled during the second half of 2007. One of the Symantec’s official of its security operations said the bug ridden web code was putting visitors to many innocent web-sites at risk. It is recommended that users stay away from gambling and porn web-sites to stay secured.
Such attacks which a nasty hacker can make is via these web code susceptibility is called as cross-site scripting (abbreviated as XSS).
Generally these involve lax control of the data being swapped between a web server and the browser program. An XSS vulnerability cloud allows hackers to fetch the login details of a visitor to the web-site. The hackers create tempting e-mails, fake servers and dead drops to collect information.
To overcome this problem, the web designers can use automated web tools which can scan custom web codes and highlight the susceptibility. There needs to be an awareness about testing the codes after writing it before put it On..
