Public Speaking (Seminar or Conference)
Most of us fear speaking in public or even fear to speak in a group. We can speak for hours and hours if we have to speak to someone we know or we are sure is going to listen to us.
Public speaking is not a hard task if:
1) You don’t have to be perfect or brilliant to succeed: No one looks out for how perfect you are. All you need to know is what are you speaking and how you are spreading the word to the audience. Don’t think about how poor or how well have you done once you are done with your seminar.
2) Make it short: Keep the seminar or conference short however, speak to the point. Use power point presentation, people understand more by actually looking at it rather the listening to it.
3) Just be yourself: Don’t panic or hassle for anything while speaking. Don’t bother to what he/she might be thinking about you. Keep your cool and say whatever you have to say.
4) Don’t be negative: While speaking in public don’t think about anything rather than what you are speaking about. If some one is not listening to you just leave the person alone, if someone’s not listening to what you have to say its they who are the looser not you.
5)Interaction: keep the audience involved by questioning them just to make sure they are interested and are listening to you. Don’t make the session like a very serious one crack some jokes, ask the audience if they want to add anything to your point or want to let out their suggestions, point of view etc.
In General, the More You Prepare, the Worse You Will Do.
I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.
Keep these six serving men with you always. They help us starting a conversation, debate, seminar etc.
