    RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) is an emerging data storage technology which merges two or more physical hard disks into a single coherent unit by using either special hardware or software, in addition it also offers excellent read speed and a write-speed that is comparable to that of a single disk. Hardware solutions frequently are intended to present themselves to the attached system as a single hard drive, and thus the operating system unaware of the technical workings. Software solutions are distinctively implemented in the operating system, and in return would present the RAID drive as a single drive to applications.

    Mirroring

    Mirroring is one of the two data redundancy technique used in RAID for maintaining data consistency. In a RAID system using mirroring, for example (RAID I, suitable for data which reliability requirements are exceptionally high) writes two copies of the data, all data in the system is written simultaneously to two separate drives instead of one.This is also called fault tolerance because if one of the mirrored drives suffers a mechanical failure or does not respond, it should switch using the mirror drive with no lapse in user accessibility and the remaining drive will keep on functioning. The logic behind mirroring is to provide 100% data redundancy and full protection against the failure of either of the disks containing the duplicated one and let the data automatically directed to the other, thus mirroring setups constantly require a number of few drives and high technical skills to set-up for apparent reasons.

    The key concept of mirroring is that it should provide not only complete redundancy of data, but also it should logically make fast recovery from a disk failure because all the data is on the second drive, it must ready to use if the first one fails. However while buying RAID make sure to buy twice the capacity considering if your requirement is extermlly high for data to which high performance access is required. .

    Yahoo! is the second biggest major engines after Google, it includes very large network of websites. However the algorithm differs from Google and MSN but focusing on few more factors outside the prototype optimization technique you can obtain good position in Yahoo and as well increase your visibility. Along with the on-page and off page optimization technique the following tips will help you to optimize your site better in Yahoo!

    Yahoo! Site Explorer: Yahoo site explorer is more vital than ever. All you needs to submit your website to Yahoo’s site explorer. Yahoo! site explorer help you to retrieve information about the pages linking to a particular page or pages within a domain. You can locate your indexed web pages and the links to your sites, as well as delete pages in the index or rewrite dynamic URLs. This is great tools to keep track on incoming links and explore your site.

    Yahoo Answer: Great way to find and share information and improve your social networking skills, and understand well your niche. Yahoo Answers deals with one-off question answering. You can get chance to promote your site tactfully especially if you’ve range of website of different genre. There’s a corpus of knowledge growing there organized into different categories, you can share your knowledge and skills with others in specific topics which help you to expertise in your field.

    Yahoo! Video: You can use Yahoo video the same way you use youtube videos, you will need a Yahoo i.d. to get started with. Here is chances that you can include some of the most relevant keywords in the listings such as in your video’s title, description text, and using the tags into the category.

    Flickr Photos: Flickr images are now part of Yahoo’s Search engine result pages, you can use alt text images adding relevant keywords in titles, description, it would be better suited as a caption, or within the title attribute and tags. For using this feature you will need a Flickr account through yahoo!

    Yahoo Groups: This is a large, thriving service from Yahoo! which offers free mailing lists, photo & file sharing, group calendars and more method to establish interaction with people. You can discuss hot topics, share interests, join online communities and  expand your visibility.

    Yahoo! Upcoming: If yours have news based site or if you are looking for any announcement than Yahoo Upcoming is a great tool to announce your news or event. It help you like a press release. Yahoo upcoming has also an added feature, your content travel very fast through the site which are affiliated to them and interest groups. You can use effective keywords that will help you in yahoo search results too.

    MyBloglog: It is great blogger community now owned by yahoo, the community is based in part on interactions facilitated by a popular web widget that many members install on their blog, you can sign up for free accounts on MyBlogLog and can initiate a blog community for one or more blogs as an author, the widgets also contain links to visiting members’ community pages, and are one way in which users connect with one another.

    Web site optimization takes always a different new approach the way the search engine changing their algorithm, few method could be hit or miss, however you’ll need to find something new that can work out effectively.

    The High availability clusters are computer clusters which are implemented mainly for the purpose of improving the availability of the services. The high availability clustering detect hardware/software faults, and instantly restart the application on another system without requiring administrative intercession, this process is commonly known as a Failover process. It has functionality that provides failover from one node to another if the current node becomes unavailable, a failover cluster appears on the network as a normal application, but it has additional functionality that increases its availability in case one server fail.

      –>

    The clustering software may configure the node before starting the application on it. To run the system smoothly it require appropriate filesystems to be imported and mounted and  to set-up cluster rules that enable a common set of configurations also network hardware may have to be configured, and some supporting applications may need to be running as well.Diagram: HA Cluster network (2 node)

    High availability server

    The purpose of HA clusters to utilize all available techniques to make the individual systems/shared infrastructure as reliable as possible. The high availability clustering should include the following;

    * Build redundancy into a cluster.

    * Redundant network connections so that a switchover or network interface failures do not result in network outages.

    * Disk mirroring to avoid system crashes in case of failure of internal disks.

    * SAN data connections.

    * Redundant electrical power inputs.

    The high availability clusters generally use a critical clustering in private network connection and monitor the status of each node in the cluster. Such clustering are often required for critical databases, business applications, file sharing on a network and customer services such as e-commerce websites.

    What is VPS ?

    A Virtual Private Server shares its resources with multiple users providing fully functioning Web Server that resides within the same physical location of a true Web Server, multiple virtual servers can reside on a single Web Server, it allow hosting a number of sites simultaneously, each with a unique domain name and IP address, VPS are independent with their own operating system and resources.

    What is Burstable Memory

    Each Virtual Private Server has a guaranteed amount of RAM, your host always guaranteed a certain amount of system resources, as the usable memory, out of the memory available in VPS. Burstable memory set a maximum limit for the memory available  so in case if the guaranteed memory is exhausted, the users of VPS can use the memory up to the limit of burstable memory, for example if the guaranteed memory of a VPS is 512mb and the burstable memory limit is 1024 mb, the users can use the remaining 512MB RAM once their guaranteed memory is completely used up.

    This is possible only if the host server has that much memory available with it, however it is always best not to use the burstable memory unless it is emergency.Bursted memory are not guaranteed but it can be allocated to any VPS that may need it as long as it is available on the box at that time. So as long as those resources are available, as a user you can be able to go over that limit of guaranteed RAM.

    While looking for VPS server you should make proper analysis of the memory availability considering the VPS provider that work to make sure that an ample amount of burst resources are always available on each host machine. In case if your VPS constantly requires greater resources than your allocated guarantees memory, you should upgrade your account.
