Choosing a Shopping Cart

by @ 12:06 pm. Filed under Micfo Web Hosting

There are many varieties of open source shopping carts are there which are generally simple to integrate with your existing sites and as well easy to customize, the only question is- which would be the best? I would suggest before choosing shopping cart software either its free or paid, you should examine issues of installation part and general effectiveness and make sure the ecommerce software you are going to choose should meet your customers need autonomously. Check your shopping cart should follow the latest technology for example it should easily integrate with popular payment gateways including Google checkout system which is becoming popular too.

Try to find user reviews either it is free or paid service through forums. In general many features of well known shopping cart software are intuitively designed for business users but you should also check it should be search engine friendly and must be security built up. Especially for paid service check the support and level of customer services of the providers by raising few pre-sale questions and check the response time and the quality of the reply. Check thoroughly the manual and support documentation, download the user guide and take a close overview before you buy the shopping cart software.

e-fencing

by @ 5:36 am. Filed under Micfo Web Hosting

Now this is not another event in the upcoming Olympics in 2008, but this the great threat that is coming up fast for upcoming e-commerce websites and also for major websites like eBay etc.

Shoplifting had been one of the major concerns for malls all over the world. But for organized shoplifters it was also a headache to sell the loot. But now with websites like eBay they can place their stolen goods for auction or for sale on retail price and get away with it.

Some people are making millions out of it and more over people who are buying those goods are not even aware of it because they get something that’s cheap and something that’s unused and brand new.

You can never predict how people can invent to use the internet for crime, with each new day people think new ways to come with new ways and the authorities can do nothing about it. Its all to the people who use the internet to be more aware and stay away so that they don’t fall into the web that the criminals have plotted on the internet for them.

The web has seriously become a spider’s web in which we are so entangled that we can only wish to get out but the truth is that we don’t want to get out.

Hey enough of this negativity we have survived so many things we can survive this too

So be aware and spend :)

Bandwidth for Theme based site

by @ 8:02 am. Filed under Micfo Web Hosting

Most of the webmaster those who are very new in online business generally have a question how much bandwidth I would require for my website? it really depend on your website structure and how fast you start growing, let us talk here about the web space for theme based site, suppose if you’ve a theme-based site which starts off with 40-50 web pages of content it will need 2.5 MB of web space. Nonetheless if you start adding more pages say for example you are adding 10-12 pages of new content per week you will need approx  26 Megabytes more in your first year and so on in same progression if you go on adding more pages it will go on around 52 Mb in two years.

For instance if your site will have 30-40K page views per month the bandwidth consumption will more likely 1,500 Mb (1.5 Gigabytes), this will grow as you go on adding more pages and grow in traffic. You will need to monitor your consumption and give more attention to your bandwidth since the web hosts will usually charge you fees for extra web space and bandwidth or you may consider to shift to other plan that which can best match with your growing need.

Why Virtual Private Server?

by @ 8:19 am. Filed under Micfo Web Hosting, Web Hosting Articles

VPS concept is not a new one. The idea of dividing the resources of a physical server is being in use from many years. The idea is to divide the Mainframes ( slice up physical server into virtual or “private ) to allow more people affordable access to such huge and very costly devices, where each private server has it’s own unique file system, user space (including virtual root) disk space, process space, CPU, bandwidth, and memory allocations. Even though there limit on CPU, Memory there is no affect on other private server in case of still a horde of heavy traffic. With a VPS account most important thing that you get Root access to individual private servers and these Private Servers are invisible to each other and do not share processes. Also each private server has its own set of IP add and even in case of faults in one private server, it does not affect others.

The isolation performances eliminate the risk of downtime which may cause by others mistakes, or in case of fault and hack. In short within the fraction of the cost with a private server you get all benefits of a dedicated server as you can share a physical server and still have the same guarantees of a dedicated server.

ASP (Active Server Pages) is Microsoft’s server-side script engine for dynamically-generated web pages-it is HTML pages embedded with ASP scripts which are processed on the server before the page is sent to the user. This is best solution in window environment for the web master those who are looking for a dynamic data-driven web site as they will need to embed ASP code into web site’s HTML Pages.
